She had the pleasure of being the Assistant Music Director this past year with MTS’s production of Bonnie and Clyde. She works with APS as a 3rd grade teacher. She also directs the Jammin’ Jaguars Children’s Chorus for the upper elementary grades at her school. She studied Music Education while at the University of New Mexico and worked with the UNM Children’s Chorus where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She also has Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. She is so excited to be a part of this incredible organization in which she calls her home.

Jordon Embree

Vice President

Jordon Embree studied at The Southwest University of Visual Arts, majoring in interior architecture and design with a minor in advertising and marketing. He gained years of experience in residential design as the head In-House Designer at a local custom home builder. He also gained further knowledge of graphic design and production as the production manager at a large format print shop. He has loved theatre since childhood and has found many creative outlets through volunteering with MTS over the years. Now, his focus is on improving and streamlining the processes we use in our theatre.

Deborah E. Flores

Treasurer

Debi has been on the Musical Theatre Southwest Board for two years as the Treasurer. Her career in banking has lasted over 40 years in various banks in Albuquerque which made her duties as Treasurer a good match. She started as a Teller in the now defunct First National Bank in Albuquerque, worked in lending and became a Branch Manager at Charter Bank years later before finally moving to US Bank where she is now in the Treasury Management department. Her love of the theatre started in high school and has grown over the years. When asked to join the board, it made perfect sense to try and do her best to support the community in this capacity.

Hope Ruiz

Secretary

Hope has been involved with community theatre for 8 years volunteering with front of house duties. Hope joined the MTS board of directors 1.5 years ago and has enjoyed continuing to make this theatre organization great. Hope is not a performer but brings with her patron and volunteer perspectives. Hope works full time as a process engineer for Intel and is thankful that her employer supports MTS through Hope's volunteer hours. Hope is excited to engage more as the board secretary and looks forward to a great year with her theatre family.

Angie Alley

Director

It is a real honor for Angie to serve on the Board of Directors for Musical Theater Southwest. She serves as the Secretary, and the Chair of the Amigos. For 14 years, Angie has worked in her dream job as a College Instructor. She currently is a Full-Time Communications Instructor at CNM and speaker coach for TEDxABQ, and she loves every minute of it. Outside the classroom, Angie surrounds herself with her favorite people—her family at MTS. She has performed in 35 musicals and is excited for the next 35 years. Angie has found a home and community at MTS that is very near and dear to her. Angie is married to a wonderful, supportive, and loving husband. Together they parent the best toy poodle, Archie, who loves chicken, licking noses, clapping his paws to showtunes, and of course, Angie.

Kale Brown

Director

Kale Brown is no stranger to the stages of Albuquerque. He has found a passion exploring various dance styles as a choreographer as well, for the past nine years. When studying engineering at Georgia Tech, he competed nationally alongside hip hop, contemporary, and Bollywood fusion collegiate troupes. He has had the opportunity to learn from incredible mentors in circus arts and aerial acrobatics. Since moving back home to Albuquerque, Kale has enjoyed furthering his study of performance art through community theatre. He has had the good fortune to be a part of many incredible productions, among his favorites are In the Heights, Chicago, Newsies, Footloose, Shrek the Musical, Mamma Mia and Bring it On. Kale is immensely excited to share what knowledge he has to those interested in this inspiring community!

Since first arriving at an audition for MTS in March of 2018, Kale has considered MTS a second home that is an incredibly energetic and supportive community. A place where artists are motivated to learn and challenged to rise to the expectation of high quality performance art. "I hope to see and aid in Musical Theatre Southwest’s growth as an organization and as a pillar of the Albuquerque arts community," states Kale. As a participating member of Musical Theatre Southwest’s Education Committee, he has seen the potential and helped overcome the challenges we face in making educational programs accessible to the community. With organization and vision, he believes that MTS can have expertly planned and competitively attended educational initiatives. Before the Fourth, was his first successful experience of organizing and executing a production. In 2015 and 2016, he acted as Publicity Chair for the inaugural board of Desi Dance Network, a national 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to promote and empower South Asian performing arts and artists, increase diversity in the entertainment industry, and build a community for artists within South Asian Performing Arts.

Lilia Ruiz

Director

Lilia has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and maintains a license as a Certified Public Accountant in both New Mexico and Nevada. She's spent over 25 years conducting and leading financial investigations in both the federal and state government sectors and is now retired. Lilia now invests her time in various volunteer activities and is thrilled to lend her skillset to MTS where she assists with the financial and other aspects of the organization. Lilia feels especially blessed that she was able to develop her love of musicals as a youth when she saw many classics at the Ahmanson and the (now extinct) Schubert Theatres in Los Angeles, complements of the high school she attended. She continued throughout her life to support the theatre as an audience member and learned about MTS due to her new love of tap dancing where she attended a performance by the Alley Kats Tap Company. Lilia spends some of her spare time taking tap classes, yoga and hiking with her husband, Guy.
