A strong bond with the community is what has made Musical Theatre Southwest what it is today—a community theatre built on the strong traditions of presenting Broadway-style musicals to families from across New Mexico and the nation. From our humble beginnings as a small and fledgling community theatre, we have helped bring laughter, drama and the best voices from around the state to our stages.


Musical Theatre Southwest is a leader in New Mexico Theatre that supports and educates our Community through artistic collaboration.
MTS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Elizabeth Ponic

Interim President

Elizabeth originally hails from Stowe, Vermont, where she first fell in love with dance and then theatre at a young age. She moved out here after obtaining a B.A. in Theatre Arts with a minor in Business. She has been both off stage and on stage with several theatres here in town, but MTS is definitely where she feels most at home. Some of her favorite credits include Joseph and the Amazing..., Cats, Cabaret, Chicago, Anything Goes, The Producers, Sweet Charity, Guys and Dolls, and Hair. Her favorite backstage credits since moving here include Stage Managing Rock of Ages, Bonnie & Clyde, Once Upon a Mattress and Sherlock Holmes, Hair Design for The Addams Family, Into the Woods, Shrek the Musical and Costume Design for Civil War, Stones in his Pocket and Sordid Lives. She is very excited about the current changes that MTS is working on and feels honored to be able to be a part of the board that is taking on this challenge. She would like to thank her wonderful friends, family and husband for supporting her passion for theatre!

Aaron Howe

Interim Vice-President

Aaron Howe has been making music with people in New Mexico for the last 20 years. He received his Bachelor of Music Education from Eastern New Mexico University and his Master of Music from the University of New Mexico. He has served as Music Director for Heights First Church of The Nazarene, Community of Joy Lutheran Church, and the Metropolitan Community Church in Albuquerque. He also directed the choral program at St. Pius X High School, and has worked as music director for many community theaters in Albuquerque, including Musical Theater Southwest, Albuquerque Little Theater, and Play Conservatory. Since 2010, Aaron has served as the Artistic Director of The New Mexico Gay Men’s Chorus, programming and conducting their concert season, along with many additional community performances. In 2013, Aaron co-founded The Rio Rancho Youth Chorus and has served as its Artistic Director since that time. In 2016 Aaron became the Artistic Director of the Zia Singers, an all-female community chorus that has been singing in Santa Fe for over 25 years. He is proud and honored to be an active participant in the wonderful arts community here in New Mexico.

Deborah E. Flores


Debi has been on the Musical Theatre Southwest Board for two years as the Treasurer. Her career in banking has lasted over 40 years in various banks in Albuquerque which made her duties as Treasurer a good match. She started as a Teller in the now defunct First National Bank in Albuquerque, worked in lending and became a Branch Manager at Charter Bank years later before finally moving to US Bank where she is now in the Treasury Management department. Her love of the theatre started in high school and has grown over the years. When asked to join the board, it made perfect sense to try and do her best to support the community in this capacity.

Angie Alley


It is a real honor for Angie to serve on the Board of Directors for Musical Theater Southwest. She serves as the Secretary, and the Chair of the Amigos. For 14 years, Angie has worked in her dream job as a College Instructor. She currently is a Full-Time Communications Instructor at CNM and speaker coach for TEDxABQ, and she loves every minute of it. Outside the classroom, Angie surrounds herself with her favorite people—her family at MTS. She has performed in 35 musicals and is excited for the next 35 years. Angie has found a home and community at MTS that is very near and dear to her. Angie is married to a wonderful, supportive, and loving husband. Together they parent the best toy poodle, Archie, who loves chicken, licking noses, clapping his paws to showtunes, and of course, Angie.

David Bryant


David Bryant has been involved in theatre for over 18 years. He has been a drama teacher at South Valley Academy for the last 12 years, teaching both middle school and high school. He has directed and performed in over 20 productions. He last directed Beauty and the Beast (MTS) and The Addams Family (MTS and ALT). This is David's first year on the Board of Directors. He is currently the Production Coordinator and Artistic Director for this season's NINE. He is excited to serve his community which has given him so much joy.

Jeff Chávez


Jeff, a native Albuquerquean, has been a musical theatre addict since he was a child. He works in the printing industry as the manager of the Mail Room/Copy Center for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. He studied information technology and data processing technology and has a background in college education. Jeff usually is working the front of the house in the Box Office for the MTS shows, but on occassion is seen on stage. He brings to us his experience in programming and is our webmaster and social media coordinator.

J. Mark Danley


J. Mark Danley has been involved with theater and other performing arts for more than 45 years, starting as an actor in high school and community theaters in Western Pennsylvania. He became a professional actor in the 1980’s and returned to his roots in local community theaters in 2000 after becoming a college professor in the biological sciences. He has served as Company Manager for the Philadelphia Area Repertory Theater and as a board member of the Maine State Ballet. He has been associated with various theater companies in Albuquerque since 2004 and made his debut with Musical Theatre Southwest in 2008 as the puppeteer for Audrey II in ``Little Shop of Horrors.`` He has been a member of SAG-AFTRA since 1988.

Jenni Hipolito


Jenni is a New Mexico native and has always had a passion for music and the arts. She has done multiple shows with MTS as well as served on multiple committees. She had the pleasure of being the Assistant Music Director this past year with MTS’s production of Bonnie and Clyde. She works with APS as a 3rd grade teacher. She also directs the Jammin’ Jaguars Children’s Chorus for the upper elementary grades at her school. She studied Music Education while at the University of New Mexico and worked with the UNM Children’s Chorus where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She also has Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. She is so excited to be a part of this incredible organization in which she calls her home.

Vicki Marie Singer


Vicki Marie Singer started working with Musical Theatre Southwest in 1994 as a crew member, a spotlight operator, and a light board operator. In 1999 she accepted her first role as a stage manager for MTS’ production of Jesus Christ Superstar at Popejoy Hall. She has been active as a stage manager for MTS since then. She also stage manages for various different local production companies. Vicki served a six year term on the board for MTS board from 2008-2014. She rejoined the MTS board in April of 2016. She also serves on the board of directors for the Albuquerque Theatre Guild from 2014 - 2020. She owns and operates a graphic design firm that was established in 1991. She is the mother of two wonderfully talented children, Julian and Katahdin, and has 5 extremely over achieving grandchildren.
