He gained years of experience in residential design as the head In-House Designer at a local custom home builder. He also gained further knowledge of graphic design and production as the production manager at a large format print shop. He has loved theatre since childhood and has found many creative outlets through volunteering with MTS over the years. Now, his focus is on improving and streamlining the processes we use in our theatre.

Deborah E. Flores

Debi has been on the Musical Theatre Southwest Board for two years as the Treasurer. Her career in banking has lasted over 40 years in various banks in Albuquerque which made her duties as Treasurer a good match. She started as a Teller in the now defunct First National Bank in Albuquerque, worked in lending and became a Branch Manager at Charter Bank years later before finally moving to US Bank where she is now in the Treasury Management department. Her love of the theatre started in high school and has grown over the years. When asked to join the board, it made perfect sense to try and do her best to support the community in this capacity.

Hope Ruiz

Hope has been involved with community theatre for 8 years volunteering with front of house duties. Hope joined the MTS board of directors 1.5 years ago and has enjoyed continuing to make this theatre organization great. Hope is not a performer but brings with her patron and volunteer perspectives. Hope works full time as a process engineer for Intel and is thankful that her employer supports MTS through Hope's volunteer hours. Hope is excited to engage more as the board secretary and looks forward to a great year with her theatre family.

Angie Alley

It is a real honor for Angie to serve on the Board of Directors for Musical Theater Southwest. She serves as the Secretary, and the Chair of the Amigos. For 14 years, Angie has worked in her dream job as a College Instructor. She currently is a Full-Time Communications Instructor at CNM and speaker coach for TEDxABQ, and she loves every minute of it. Outside the classroom, Angie surrounds herself with her favorite people—her family at MTS. She has performed in 35 musicals and is excited for the next 35 years. Angie has found a home and community at MTS that is very near and dear to her. Angie is married to a wonderful, supportive, and loving husband. Together they parent the best toy poodle, Archie, who loves chicken, licking noses, clapping his paws to showtunes, and of course, Angie.

When studying engineering at Georgia Tech, he competed nationally alongside hip hop, contemporary, and Bollywood fusion collegiate troupes. He has had the opportunity to learn from incredible mentors in circus arts and aerial acrobatics. Since moving back home to Albuquerque, Kale has enjoyed furthering his study of performance art through community theatre. He has had the good fortune to be a part of many incredible productions, among his favorites are In the Heights, Chicago, Newsies, Footloose, Shrek the Musical, Mamma Mia and Bring it On. Kale is immensely excited to share what knowledge he has to those interested in this inspiring community!

Since first arriving at an audition for MTS in March of 2018, Kale has considered MTS a second home that is an incredibly energetic and supportive community. A place where artists are motivated to learn and challenged to rise to the expectation of high quality performance art. "I hope to see and aid in Musical Theatre Southwest’s growth as an organization and as a pillar of the Albuquerque arts community," states Kale. As a participating member of Musical Theatre Southwest’s Education Committee, he has seen the potential and helped overcome the challenges we face in making educational programs accessible to the community. With organization and vision, he believes that MTS can have expertly planned and competitively attended educational initiatives. In 2015 and 2016, he acted as Publicity Chair for the inaugural board of Desi Dance Network, a national 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to promote and empower South Asian performing arts and artists, increase diversity in the entertainment industry, and build a community for artists within South Asian Performing Arts.

A strong bond with the community is what has made Musical Theatre Southwest what it is today—a community theatre built on the strong traditions of presenting Broadway-style musicals to families from across New Mexico and the nation. From our humble beginnings as a small and fledgling community theatre, we have helped bring laughter, drama and the best voices from around the state to our stages.
