THRIVE
The words we live by
At Musical Theatre Southwest, culture doesn’t happen by accident. We create it together. These shared commitments shape how we treat one another, how we approach our craft, and how we show up in the space. When we live these principles, we build a theatre that is safe, supportive, excellent, and joyful.
These are not rules to be scored or measured. They are a shared language to help us recognize great moments, navigate challenges, and support each other when we fall short.
Here are the Ways We Show Up:
Assume positive intent
We begin with the belief that everyone is trying their best. When something feels off, we ask questions. We choose trust before judgement.
Communicate with clarity and courage
We speak directly and kindly. We share concerns early. We listen before responding.
Do what you say you’ll do
We show up on time, prepared, and ready. If something changes, we communicate it quickly. We follow through on commitments.
Make everyone feel seen
We share the spotlight and uplift voices that haven’t been heard. We make sure every person in the space sees the dignity, welcome, and acknowledgement that they deserve.
Honor the craft and each other
We respect the work, the space, and the people in it. We leave things better than we found them.
Own it and grow from it
When we fall short, we take responsibility. We seek and give feedback kindly. We reflect, reset, and improve.
Bring your best energy
We show up engaged. We bring the best that we have. We make room for rest when it’s needed.
Keep the joy at the center
We have fun along the way. We do theatre for the connection, inspiration, and joy it creates. When things get stressful, we remember why we do this and support each other.
